Sai Akhil Anand’s “Bindu and Rekha” series continues with Vitulus, which means calf in Latin. The design is block-printed as a horizontal band across the chest of a tomato red colored T-shirt. The tone-on-tone print lets the animal appear subtly within the fabric rather than standing out loudly.
The band design feels like a frieze, similar to the continuous images found at the base of temple walls, but here it is on a cotton T-shirt that moves with you. It is made in Chennai by neurodivergent adults, for whom the repetitive block printing is both their work and livelihood.
